The Origins of FeliSafe This venture has its origins in the loss of our cat Burtie in a road accident a couple of years ago at the age of two. Everyone was heartbroken and whilst he could never be replaced we missed the company that only a cat can provide. We wanted to get another cat but we could not go through that anguish again. I did some research on keeping house cats but felt that whilst cats may become accustomed to being kept in the house it would be far better if they could have access to the outside as well. During the course of my research I also found out that there some common plants that are poisonous to cats and that confined cats may be less likely to differentiate between the poisonous and non poisonous types. Fortunately, none of the plants we had turned out to be harmful. It was also clear that getting two cats would be beneficial in terms of them having constant company. We bought two Bengal litter mates Oscar and Lucy and I set about cat proofing the garden. |

Some time previous to this I had helped a friend put up cat fencing which he had purchased as a kit, this kit whilst effective had a couple of drawbacks. Firstly, it only came with standard brackets which are fine if you are just doing a straight run but not so good when you come up against irregular shapes or even corners. Secondly, and perhaps more importantly I felt it was a bit pricey. With this in mind I decide to develop my own system which by virtue of the brackets being custom made can be adapted to cope with irregular shapes. I also devised corner brackets which are longer and come out at a 45° angle with a left or right facing base, which produce a much neater appearance. I have made these brackets for friends who found them to be very effective and convinced me to make them available to all cat lovers. I believe that this system offers a much higher degree of flexibility than similar products and the low price will enable more people to have a cat fence. |

Fencing my garden has been a great success and gives me peace of mind. As for Lucy and Oscar giving them access to the garden really does make a difference to them, as when it’s pouring with rain and they can’t (wont) go out they are noticeably grumpy. |
